Cricket

This is Cricket, Lisa's English Mastiff.

Cricket chewed a toenail, so he is sporting an inflatable Elizabethan collar. He is a 185 pound, friendly guy. He is getting older (6 years), so he takes a joint supplement and is on carprofen for the treatment of arthritis. A long-acting ear medication keeps his ears nice. His color is called fawn. Giant dogs, like Cricket, require a bit more investment than others, but they are so impressive! It is the closest thing that I get to equine medicine, because they are the size of small ponies. One thing people don't consider much with the giants is they tend to have nicer teeth than the little dogs, which can save on dental care. Giant dog owners tend to cherish the years that they get with their dogs. Our patient Titan, who was possibly the tallest dog in the world, recently passed away at 6 years of age. Tibetan mastiffs occasionally live to 15, making them very long-lived for a giant breed. Other long-lived giants are the Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees.
