Hello, everyone! It’s Gretchen here again. Today is World Veterinary Day, and I wanted to share my thoughts about why I think veterinarians are such incredible people.
There’s a quote by Will Rogers that I completely agree with. He once said, “Personally, I have always felt the best doctor in the world is a veterinarian. He can’t ask his patients what is the matter, he’s got to just know.” I find this to be so true! While our human doctors often specialize in one thing or the other, our veterinarians have to know everything about every animal they work with. They have to be surgeons, dentists, dermatologists, cardiologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and the list goes on and on. I have always been impressed by all the knowledge a veterinarian must have to perform their job. And to make it even more challenging, our animal patients can’t talk, so they can’t tell you what’s wrong.
As a dog owner my entire adult life, I have met many wonderful veterinarians over the years. I have found them to be extremely kindhearted, knowledgeable, and friendly. I always enjoyed picking their brain about their profession. They have some great stories to share!
Since I started working here, I have been able to see firsthand the day in the life of a veterinarian. I have seen our Dr. Allison welcome new pets into families with their very first vet visit, do many wellness check ups, diagnose serious illnesses, and help pet parents say goodbye to their beloved animals. She helped me say goodbye to my own dog, and she is as compassionate and caring as they come. I’m proud to work here, and I’m proud of what we do here. Our main objective is to keep your pet healthy, so you can enjoy their companionship for many years.
The next time you see your veterinarian, whether in our clinic or somewhere else, please thank them for everything they do. They deserve to be appreciated and celebrated!
